Ingrid Ramirez Delgado has lived in Illinois since 2007, working as a Writer Producer, making creative marketing campaigns and commercial and corporate documentary-style videos. In 2009, Ingrid Ramirez also produced and hosted the first Spanish-language interview radio program in McLean County at local radio station WJBC. In this weekly radio show, Ingrid Ramirez brought an uplifting, yet critical perspective on diverse issues affecting the Latino community including, education, finance, culture, and immigration. She documented the lives of hundreds of Spanish-speaking individuals living in this county who shared their personal stories with her. In 2011, Ingrid Ramirez won the Radio Television Digital News Association UNITY Award for her work and commitment covering the cultural diversity of the community she serves. This award is part of the Edward Murrow National Radio Awards, the highest national recognition in radio. While hosting her radio show, Ingrid Ramirez Delgado also wrote a witty Spanish language column called, Choque Cultural (Cultural Shock) based on her personal experiences and observations as Puerto Rican woman living in the Midwest. Ingrid Ramirez has won several advertising and writing awards during her career as a professional writer. Her work includes plays, poems, songs, screenplays and TV sitcoms. She is an active member in several community organizations. She has a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in theater from the University of Puerto Rico. Ingrid Ramirez Delgado also earned a Masters in Screenplay from the International University Menendez Pelayo in Valencia, Spain. She is now pursuing a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing, from Illinois State University. Ingrid Ramirez has traveled through Latin America and Europe and her favorite anonymous quote is: “Everybody laughs in the same language.”
